THESE 7 FRUITS AND VEGETABLES THAT SHOULD NOT BE PEELED

The skin or peel of some fruits and vegetables contains many nutrients. It would be a shame to deprive yourself.

Here are the 7 foods that should not be peeled if you want to fill up on vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, or even fiber.

 APPLES

Apple skin is a source of vitamins and antioxidants, known to help fight oxidative stress and cellular aging. More precisely, it contains four to six times more than the flesh. However, be sure to wash it well to get rid of any pesticide residues. Or opt for organic fruit.

 PEARS

Another fruit for which it is not necessary to take out the peeler: is the pear. This slightly grainy fruit, which contains more than 80% water, is rich in minerals, trace elements (potassium, zinc, etc.), vitamins (C, B, A, and E), antioxidants, and fiber. But the majority of a pear’s fiber and vitamins are found in its skin.

 TOMATOES

If it is recommended not to remove the skin of tomatoes, it is because it contains a high level of naringenin, an anti-inflammatory flavonoid. It also concentrates vitamin C and lycopene, a powerful antioxidant responsible for the red pigmentation of tomatoes. However, if you have sensitive intestines, it is better to do without them. It is difficult to digest.

 CUCUMBERS

On the list of foods to eat with the skin, we can also mention the cucumber. And for good reason, the skin of this vegetable, which is 95% water, is a source of fiber. In addition, this is precisely where pepsin, an enzyme that promotes digestion, is located.

 THE EGGPLANTS

In the Cucurbitaceae section, we can also mention eggplants. The peel of this vegetable, which has laxative properties and helps cleanse and detoxify the kidneys, contains fiber, and again, a large part of the antioxidants. It is therefore better not to peel it, or else do so by leaving one out of two passages of skin

ZUCCHINI

To benefit from all the benefits of this vegetable, appreciated for its light nutty taste, it is strongly recommended to eat it with its skin. The latter offers a wide range of vitamins. As with eggplant, if the skin is too thick, you can leave every other pass.

 KIWI FRUIT

Finally, and contrary to popular belief, the hairy skin of the kiwi is edible. Its texture is not very pleasant but is a source of fiber, magnesium, potassium, and zinc. It also contains folate, or vitamin B9, which contributes to the proper functioning of the immune system.
